We became the teachers!
DSA were excited to share their Microbit skills and they took on the challenge of creating dinosaur eggs with our P2/3 class as part of their topic on Dinosaurs. They really enjoyed this and it was certainly a learning experience for them becoming the educators. They look forward to supporting other classes.
DSA worked collaboratively both in school and at home to create a Google slides presentation to present to teachers. One of the ambassadors took the lead in setting this up and shared the blank presentation with the other ambassadors. They each worked independently in pairs to create the shared presentation for the teachers, clearly setting out the basics to using Micro:bit before gradually getting more difficult to give them a challenge. Teacher training was arranged during a morning session in school. This was again a learning experience for our ambassadors as they became the educators. They worked with the teachers providing them with appropriate support in a very caring and patient manner. They celebrated the teachers' achievements and this session was thoroughly enjoyed by the staff and pupils. Ambassadors, so far, have only supported one class however in Term 3 the rest of the teachers intend to use them to support them with their ICT lessons using Micro:bit as the pupils demonstrated many different ways Microbit could be used in the classroom. They were also able to answer any questions during the session and used the Activpanel to demonstrate the answers to the questions and the teachers followed along. The challenge they set for the teachers was to create a dice using Micro:bit. They demonstrated this on the Activpanel and then challenged the teachers to give it a go. The teachers were excited and could really see how this ICT equipment could be used as part of their planning in Numeracy.
Graduation Day 20th May 2025
Our Dream Space Ambassadors were delighted to each receive a platinum award to recognise all their hard work this year. Through their leadership the school also received a platinum certificate for demonstrating 21st century learning skills by participating in the Dream Space Program. They had a fabulous day celebrating with lots of fun activities and a tasty lunch at W5.
